‘Queer’ Asia 2021 is back! Our activities this year include a special E-roundtable, a series of workshops and a festival as part of the ‘Queer’ Asia in Germany events, and a forth-coming special roundtable on Queer Asia as Method and a second COVID-19 Community Support Screening Series later in the year.
Our call for submissions for a closed-roundtable (Zoom, Friday 9 July) is now closed. Please stay tuned for details and the schedule for ‘Queer’ Asia 2021 Special E-Roundtable – ‘Queer’ + Decoloniality in Post-Socialist States‘ (deadline for submissions: 3 May).
Our activities in Germany kick off with a call for participants for Imagining Queer Bandung. This project aims to draw a bridge between a “unity in desire” and LGBTQ+ social activism, decolonial knowledge, and cinematic imagination. How can we imagine alternative approaches in which queer bodies – across Asian, African, and Caribbean contexts – participate in, produce and reclaim these larger discourses for themselves, their communities, and their liberation, as neither national nor sexual objects?
